What each status usually means

Open

The starting status when a dispute is first created, either directly or from an escalated request.

Awaiting Seller Response

The seller is expected to act next. This happens when the dispute has just started, you rejected a seller offer, or you sent a message that shifted the case back to the seller.

Awaiting Buyer Response

The seller has acted and you now need to respond. Most commonly, the seller has offered a resolution for you to accept or reject.

Under Review

The dispute is being reviewed at the platform level.

Resolved in Buyer Favor

The dispute ended in the buyer's favor.

Resolved for Seller

The dispute ended in the seller's favor.

Partially Resolved

The dispute ended with an accepted resolution that was not a full buyer-favor outcome, such as a partial refund or replacement.

Closed

A terminal status. Buyers can also close a dispute to withdraw it. Once closed, the thread is no longer active.

A common dispute flow

  1. Open

  2. Awaiting Seller Response

  3. Awaiting Buyer Response if the seller offers a resolution

  4. Back to Awaiting Seller Response if you reject that offer

  5. A final resolved status or Closed

Where to check dispute status

You can track disputes from the dedicated disputes area in the app. The disputes page separates your cases into:

  • Open Disputes

  • Resolved Disputes

When you open a dispute, you can also see the category, the amount in dispute, messages and evidence, any proposed resolution, and the final resolution if one exists.
